Sunday Post. I'm Back (But Possibly Will Vanish Again)

Sunday, 11 February 2018

Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviews.
If you were wondering if I was alive, YES I'M! I'm so sorry for my absence, but my life gets more chaotic by the second (it seems chaotic is one of my favourite words) and I need to push everything I love aside - like blogging and bookstagramming and petting my cats. Of course, that leads to a lot of stress and then all I want to do is to wrap a warm blanket around me and not move (*mental breakdown alert*).

And yes, in case you are wondering, I did change my blog template again. "How did you have time for that if you're so busy," you may ask. Well, I wasn't planning it! However, I was on Etsy looking for a b-day present for a friend and for some odd reason I found myself typing "blogger templates" and when I saw this one it was a love at first sight (especially because it was on promotion). So, do you love it? Ps. I'm still waiting for my new header. I can't wait to show you it - the font is so pretty! 😍

What happened in my life these last weeks:

🌻 Busy bee! I've written an article (which I'm sure won't be accepted for publishing) and I was part of a conference where I had a chance to talk about Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
🌻 I've also sent an abstract to conference about the Gothic genre. I'd love to be accepted, but that would mean more work and less free time - and I probably wouldn't be able to go because I don't have the money to go to Manchester.
🌻 So far, I've read ten books! This is a new personal best for me. I'm a slow reader, so I can't stop marvelling at being three books ahead of schedule.
🌻 I've finally been able to create an Instagram theme. I'm so proud of my feed right now. 💛 Ps. I've joined two rep searches, so if you go there and wish me good luck, it would mean the world to me.
🌻 Currently reading To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo (I've only read fifty pages yet, but I'm already loving it) and re-reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (I'm getting a lot of ideas for future academic essays). What's better than read two good books amid all confusion and stress?

📚 MINI BOOK HAUL 📚
I'm proud to announce that I still haven't spent money on books since 2018 began. 🎉🎊 How did such a thing happened? I can't tell. Perhaps because I don't have much time to visit Book Depository and fill the basket with shiny new books. However, a few weeks ago, Netgalley accepted my request for The Forest Queen by Betsy Cornwell, another retelling that I couldn't wait to get my hands on. Netgalley has been really sweet this year...

How have you been? Did you miss me? Which books found their way into your bookshelf?

  1. I think everyone's been busy in this season :) I'm barely starting to catch up to scheduling my posts! It's also very hard to function in winter. Dark, cold... Meh!

I am curious about the header, and yes, this theme is definitely cool :)

And I didn't haul anything this week!! Woot woot! Congrats on not spending money on books :)

  2. I don't know what your old blog theme was like but this one is very pretty so I'm happy for you. By the sounds of it you've been very busy with working and doing lots of things. It's awesome, working is totally worth it, you can figure out plans afterwards the costs of getting Manchester, right?

I am impressed at you for not buying any books. That's awesome, go you!

    1. Aww, thank you. I'm quite happy with this theme. I think it fits better my blog. Yes, I can figure out the costs later - but I'm not even sure that I'll be accepted.

Thanks, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to resist buying books much longer.

      Happy readings! ;)

  13. Love the new look! It’s so tempting to make changes when there are all those gorgeous templates on etsy for next to nothing. So impressed that you’ve bought no books this year! I blew that pretty much right away. Haha.

  17. Even if it means more work, I hope you'll get accepted for the conference on Gothic literature. I love Gothic stories, they are just so deliciously creepy...
I can't say I remember your 'old' blog theme, but this one is gorgeous and very easy on the eyes.
Have a wonderful week, hopefully a little less stress and enough time to read and pet your cats :)

    1. Thank you. I'll know by the end of March if I'm accepted or not. However, I don't really have high hopes. It's an international conference and there are so many well-known scholars and people with their masters already that I don't think they will choose my abstract.

Aww, thank you. <3 That's so good to know since I'm so excited about this new theme.

      Happy readings! ;)

  18. Hello there! I don't think I've ever come across your blog before but I am discovering it through the International blogger group! It's great that you're reading ahead of schedule and managing to enjoy so many books. I also really like the sound of you attending so many conferences which are book involved. It sounds so good :) Hope to see you around more :d
