Sunday Post. Lots of Reading and Some Winnings

Am I back to the busy schedule that I don't even have time to breathe? Yes, my life is once again chaotic. I miss the holidays (never thought I'd say this since I'm such a Grinch). However, this was a good week for me. I can't recall the last time I read so much in a week (Bout of Books 21 surely helped).

What happened in my life this week:

🌻 Busy bee!
🌻 I joined Bout of Books 21 and thanks to it I already read four books this year (A Darker Shade of Magic, This Savage Song, In Frankenstein's Shadow - for my dissertation - and Always and Forever, Lara Jean). I believe this is a new record for me.
🌻 I WON A GIVEAWAY! 😀 Last Wednesday, Funko Europe hosted some flash giveaways on twitter and I won one of them. You know how addicted I'm to funkos.
🌻 My first popular Young Adult book ARC request was accepted! *happy dance* Ps. It isn't the first ARC I receive. It's the first "mainstream" ARC that I receive. Mainstream as one of those books that is so popular that you never though you would have a chance to get your hands on before its release.

I know, I know... I'm a lazy person. I wanted to write my sign up post before, but I just kept procrastinating it. But I'm finally doing it! So, I'm proud to announce that I'm joining Bout of Books 21. I'm always excited for a week of non-stopping reading.

My Bookish Life. Fighting Social Anxiety

Disclaim: Everyone deals with social anxiety differently. This blog post explores my experience as a blogger with social anxiety.

Being a blogger means sharing tiny little pieces of your life. In my case, I share my thoughts on books, from reviews to fangirling over my most anticipated releases and fictional crushes. Many times, I come across as enthusiastic and funny (at least, I try to be funny, but I think that I'm not very good at it), which maybe would never lead you to guess that I struggle with social anxiety. 

It's easy to hide who you on the internet. The perfect place to pretend to be someone you're not. Many of you don't realise that it takes me a lot of "courage" to, for example, comment someone's tweet or new post - especially if it's someone I admire. Anyway...

Blogging helps me to share my thoughts without having to voice them. For me, writing has always been far easier than speaking. The reason I worried all summer about my masters was that my grades would be based on oral presentations (I got over it because I got to met my classmates and I felt comfortable around them). Nevertheless, many times, writing ends up being also a source of stress and I must deal with the same worries and irrational thoughts that I do when dealing with strangers.

Goodbye 2017, Hello 2018! Bookish Resolutions

As mentioned yesterday, I miserably failed at my 2017 goals. However, I accomplished so much more than I was expecting in 2017 that in the end it didn't matter. I was even able to become more involved in the bookish community, meeting wonderful bloggers and readers. 💖

This year, I'm keeping some of my failed 2017 goals, but I'm also introducing new resolutions. So, what do I want to achieve in 2018?

I want to read 70 books. I've been aiming at this number for three years now because I need to tackle down my TBR pile of physical books and e-books. I'm even joining Beat the Backlist 2018 to do it. Also, I'm hoping to read at least ten retellings (because I love retellings I've a huge number of unread ones on my TBR pile; it's a number that needs to decrease).

The new year is fast approaching. I know I keep saying this, but time flies! However, before jumping into 2018, I've two words for you, 2017,

For all those who dom't know, 2016 catastrophic the year was for me. I lost my fifteen-year old cat Mufasa to cancer, I didn't get the job I was waiting for (or even the job of my dreams with a publisher). It was year full of disappointments that I don't wish to talk much. Unfortunately, all these disappointments culminated in a nervous breakdown. Luckily, a few months after I started my master degree and my tired mind had something to focus on than loss and failure.

Then 2017 came. And, unexpectedly, there was joy.
