Waiting on Wednesday - The Siren

Wednesday, 20 January 2016

"Waiting on Wednesday" is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week on WoW is The Siren by Kiera Cass. I read the first three novels of The Selection and I did enjoy it. So, I'm giving this book a chance. Also, because I haven't read a good mermaid story yet. And now I'm wondering if I can consider it a retelling... The book will be released on January 26th.

"From Kiera Cass, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Selection series, comes a sweeping stand-alone fantasy romance.

A girl with a secret.
The boy of her dreams.
An Ocean between them.

Years ago, Kahlen was rescued from drowning by the Ocean. To repay her debt, she has served as a Siren ever since, using her voice to lure countless strangers to their deaths. Though a single word from Kahlen can kill, she can’t resist spending her days on land, watching ordinary people and longing for the day when she will be able to speak and laugh and live freely among them again.

Kahlen is resigned to finishing her sentence in solitude...until she meets Akinli. Handsome, caring, and kind, Akinli is everything Kahlen ever dreamed of.

Falling in love with a human breaks the Ocean’s rules. But for the first time in a lifetime of following the rules, Kahlen is determined to follow her heart.

  1. Uhh, I know about this book for quite some time because it was already released before The Selection as a self-published book.
But I think Cass edited it and that now is even better. I haven't read it though.

Here is my pick for today's WoW: https://bookdustmagic.wordpress.com/2016/01/20/waiting-on-wendesday-2-summer-nights-at-the-moonlight-hotel-by-jane-costello/

    1. I didn't know about it. Maybe I'll take a look at the previous already published edition. Thank you for letting me know.

      Happy readings! ;)

  2. Yay! I'm really looking forward to this one as well! I have my copy pre-ordered, and I can't wait for it to arrive. :) Great pick!

    1. I hope you get your pre-order sooner - I always love when the books are sent earlier.

      Happy readings! ;)

  3. I want to read this also, I have it on my goodreads tbr pile!!

  4. Oh, I hadn't realized that this was a separate series, somehow. I haven't read the other one, but maybe I'll give this a try sometime!
