Sunday Post. A New Beginning

Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviews.
Happy New Year! 🎉 Wishing to every single one of by fellow Book Dragons one more year loaded with sweet recollections and cheerful times. Thank you so much to everyone who has read my posts over the past year and supported me through some hard moments Also, good luck decreasing the never-ending TBR pile that haunts every year that goes by. 😜 The new year has just began, but I have all these books I want to read and I'm already fearing that three hundred and seventy five days won't be enough to do it. *taking a deep breath* I solemnly swear I'll not freak out about it. Much.

What happened in the past week:

⛄ The new year welcomed me with a cold. Or perhaps it was my thesis that cursed me since I did edited five pages this week.
☕ Since the best way to celebrate the arrival of a new year is with a book giveaway, I'm currently hosting one. I'm not sure if this is going to sound strange, but I've found so much happiness in giving away books than in getting myself new shinning books.
⛄ Finished my first book of the year, The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw. I added it to #BeattheBacklist challenge (go, Gryffindor!) and I'm now wondering if I can also add it to my Retelling Reading challenge.

ON THE BLOG
  • Wyverns, aka were-dragons, magic, shinning treasures and a dangerous heist. If these are things you love, then you should read Fire and Heist by Sarah Beth Durst. You can read my very long review here.
  • Although I keep forgetting about my bookish resolutions, it's a end of the year tradition to share with you my reading and blogging resolutions. I also looked back at 2018 and I was surprised with what I accomplished reading and blogging-wise (but as I said, I did forget about what I set myself to accomplish).
  • I joined Top Ten Tuesday this week and I rambled about my favourite books of 2018. I could lie and tell you I tried to keep the list at ten, but I really wanted to share with you all the books that made me cry, laugh, fall in love and be angry at the world.

📚 MINI BOOK HAUL 📚

Disclaim: Since the new year began, I haven't yet spend a single euro on new books. 😁 However, before the previous year ended, I received Creatures of Will & Temper by Molly Tanzer (another Evelina @AvalinahsBooks recommendation). How can I resist to Victorian heroines and monsters?! This week, I received an e-mail approval from NetGalley to read Dream Keeper by Amber R. Duell and I'm really excited about this take on the Sandman.

Happy New Year!

Glad you enjoyed The Wicked Deep. I had a few issues with it, but overall it was a fast, fun read.

Hope 2019 is a wonderful year for you, Tânia :)

  3. I think everyone (almost) got sick with a cold of sorts for the New Year. I hope you feel better! I read Dream Keeper and I loved some aspects, but not all of it. Hope you enjoy it!

    1. The New Year surely does how to welcome us. =P Thank you. I just started reading Dream Keeper and, so far, it hasn't caught my full attention.

    1. Thank you, Sam. With all the medication I'm taking, I'll feel better very soon. I hope to read more from Ernshaw too. Winterwood seems spooky.

Your new books look really good, and Evelina is bad for my TBR, too ;)
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

    1. Happy New Year, Lexxie. I haven't gotten rid of my cold yet, but very soon I'll be feeling all good again. Ahah, Evelina truly knows how to ruin a book buying ban. =P

      Happy readings! ;)

  7. Happy new year! I have that fear too - we need more hours in a day, and more days in a year to read all of these books! I'm definitely freaking out about it. BEST OF LUCK to you, though!!!

    1. I'm always wondering why no one had invited a time turner yet - or perhaps figured out how to stop time so that we can have more time to read. =P Thank you. Happy New Year, Roseanna! :)

  8. Happy New Year!
We're less than a week into it and Goodreads is already telling me I'm behind on this years reading goal, lol. I feel your fear of the never ending TBR pile. 😆

  11. Happy New Year!! Looks like you've got some great things planned for this year. ;)
I love Bookish Challenges too. But I'm sticking with the Goodreads Reading Challenge only. With a new baby girl around I think that is as much as I can handle. LOL!
Have a great week and happy reading.

  12. Oh no! I hope your cold goes away soon. There's a bug going around the office where I work... I'm so hoping that it either hits me soon, or waits until after next week. We're all about to travel for a work convention and it would not be fun to be sick during that week. Happy New Year!

  15. Happy New Year! It sucks you began the year with a cold but I feel like everyone I know has gotten sick recently, at least this year can only get better from that?

  16. Good luck with your challenges. I am also doing Beat the Backlist. I buy things and then read things with a deadline such as ARCs and library books. I hope you are feeling better and having a great week! Anne - Books of My Heart
