Hello bookworms! How are you doing? I know, I know: long time, no see. Once again, life has been chaotic. However, this time, life has been chaotic in a good way. I spent the last three days attending a conference, as speaker and staff. It was busy and tumultuous and, in the end, I felt exhausted, but I got to meet an American professor/researcher that also studies YA dystopias and it was so exciting! 😄
This week in my life:
🌻 Last Friday, I presented my paper about YA Frankenstein retellings. I discussed Cadaver & Queen by Alisa Kwitney and The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White. I did receive some good feedback, but I'm still unsure about my presentation.
🌻 I'll be defending my thesis in sixty days time. *freaking out*
🌻 I haven't been binge watching any series as of late. Any recommendations?
🌻 I started reading The Empress of All Seasons by Emiko Jean and, so far, I'm quite enjoying the world building. 💛

🌻 Something great happened this week, but I don't want to share it yet, because I still can't believe it has happened and I don't want to jinx it.

- Due to having such a turbulent week, my blog hasn't been updated. I posted my last discussion post in May and I shared with you things that I do for self care. This was my final post (for now) regarding my mental health awareness month series.

Again, I didn't have much time to blog hop, but here some discussion posts that I caught my attention (even if I've yet to drop a comment):
- Norrie @Reading Under the Blankie questions what happened to creativity regarding book covers.

This was unexpected. I mean, I requested The Resurrectionist of Caligo by Wendy Trimbole and Alicia Zaloga many weeks ago. I no longer had hopes for my NetGalley request to be approved and this week, while I was attending the conference, I received an e-mail approving my request. Of course, I could not do my happy dance. 😜 This book seems to unlikely from anything I've read before, so I'm very excited about it.
How was your bookish week?

I’m sure your presentation was terrific.
ResponderEliminarI’m running out of shows to binge on, with hubby I’m watching Chernobyl and with my son, The Flash. Right at this moment I have The Guild on
Have a great reading week
Aww, thank you. It was not my first presentation, but I'm still terrified of of making them. My social anxiety always make it everything seem worse than it actually was/is.
EliminarHappy readings! ;)
Sixty days doesn't sound like very long. I'm sure you will do a fabulous job. Congratulations on getting to present at a conference!
ResponderEliminarI've just gotten into Poldark. It's a great series for me.
Have a lovely week!
Thank you, Deb. Since time loves flying by, the wait isn't going to be too long. Happy readings! ;)
EliminarI hardly watch any TV, so I am useless for recommendations. Good luck with the thesis. I know you will do fantastic! And, I cannot wait until you can tell us your good news.
ResponderEliminarThank you, Sam. <3 I truly hope I'll have good news to give you.
EliminarHappy readings! ;)
I've been working my way through Midsomer Murders. Not exactly the latest and greatest but it's good to blog to. I'm celebrating a reading milestone today
ResponderEliminarI've heard about that series. I might take a look at it. Thanks for the recommendation.
EliminarHappy readings! ;)
oooh I love when I get feedback from colleagues! It's the best even if its not what you want to hear. Sounds like you are almost read though?! ❤️ The Resurrectionist of Caligo has a dynamite cover I can see why you are excited! I hope you enjoy it. As for TV recs I mainly watch K-dramas. I just started a new one on Netflix. I hope your good news turns out well for you.
ResponderEliminarMost feedback came from colleagues that are very close friends and, even though I know they would never lie to me, I'm always uncertain about how I did. Anxiety sucks!!!
EliminarHappy readings, Dani! ;)
I'm glad you had a great time at the conference. Good luck defending your thesis!

When I was in school presentations were the scariest thing ever. I hated doing them! I'm sure you did great! Have a great week!!
ResponderEliminar~Kendra @ Kendra Loves Books
No matter how many times I present an essay at a conference, I'll always hate it. It's just too scary to be in the spotlight.
EliminarHappy readings! ;)
Thank you for the shoutout and ...I am curious about your news now!!! Have a great week xoxo
