Sunday Post. The Hiatus Might Be Over

Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviews.
Long time, no see. How many times have I already used this expression? πŸ€” If you are following me on twitter, I decided to take a short break. I made this decision because I had a research essay (which will hopefully be published) and a report to write, but also due to lack of blogging of inspiration (I really don't know what to write about - any ideas?). Since now I have a little bit of more free time, I'm hoping I can give this little corner the love it deserves.

What has been happening in my life:

🌻 As I mentioned above, I submitted a research article and I'm hoping it will be accepted for publication. *fingers crossed* In other news, a previous essay that I told you about has now been accepted and published. πŸ₯³ If you understand Portuguese and would like to learn more about undead memory and vampires, you can read it here.
🌻 I have been thinking about sharing my academic research here. What do you think?
🌻 Remember me telling you that I always burnt my fingertips when I cook? This time I burnt my hand - nothing major, but it still hurts. Anyway, I have been doing a lot more vegetarian and vegan dishes (even though I no longer eat meat, I still eat fish and I hope one day I will be able to eat only vegetarian meals). I tried a new roast potatoes recipes and I'm actually proud of how they turned out.
🌻 I'm 11/12 books behind my Goodreads challenge. I feel like I'm going through a reading slump. After reading just one page, I feel like giving up. I miss not being able to put a book down. πŸ˜”
🌻 Since I haven't been able to read, I have been using my reading time to play the Uncharted trilogy. I finished the second game yesterday and it is clear I will never be able to play horror games since I get scared with enemies coming out of nowhere. Anyway, after the third game, I will be able to write an essay proposal.

Since I have been on break, there is nothing new on the blog, but I will leave it here my last two posts. Thsese are two summer releases that I think you won't want to miss.
  • I wrote my review of Feathertide, a beautiful tale about acceptance. Set in a magical world, the story follows Marea, a girl born with feathers that leaves her home in search of the father she never met.
  • I shared my review of Lobizona. Inspired by Argentine folklore, it follows Manu's journey of self-discovery and her fight for the right to exist in a society that sees her as illegal.
Since I subscribed Scribd (which I have been using a lot for research work) that I haven't bought many books. Okay, to be truthful, in the last two months, I probably only bought one book. Yes, one book. I bought This Book is Anti-Racist by Tifffany Jewel. The Quarto Group will be donating 100% of their proceeds of the ebook version to Black Lives Matter and Colour of Change, throughout the month of June. So, if you haven't got this book yet, this is your opportunity.

How have you been? Any tips for a uninspired blogger?

  1. I have no tips, but it does sound like you have a lot of other good things percolating in your life. Good luck and I hope we can celebrate you being published in the near future. You poor dear! Burns hurt a lot, no matter how small, but at least you had yummy food?

    1. Thank you, Sam. 😊 Sadly, I burnt my hand and the food wasn't that yummy.

      Happy readings!

  2. Hi there! Reading and blogging slumps happen. Your brain is most probably just a bit tired of all the research and studying. Try audio books and youtube! I'm the last one to talk at all. I used to blog quite actively about 3 years ago, then life got in the way and I stopped completely. Missed it though, so I've just started again last week with a brand new blog and still trying to figure out what to do...

You are welcome to hop over and visit us! Here's my latest post The Sunday Post

    1. I have downloaded some audiobooks from Scribd. Maybe they will help me get through this slump. πŸ€” Welcome back to the blogging community!!!! 😊

      Happy readings!

  3. I am glad you are trying out vegetarian and vegan items, I am a vegetarian as well. This Book is Anti-Racist sounds interesting. And welcome back.

  4. Congrats on having one essay published! I'll keep my fingers crossed for your second one to be published as well :)
It's nice to 'see' you again! It's hard to keep up with everything all the time, so you were definitely right to take a break.
I've been reading less lately, too. I kind of get stuck on Twitter quite a bit these days. I sometimes go back to a favorite book if I can't get out of my bookish funk.
Have a wonderful week ahead! Happy reading, stay safe and healthy :)

  5. So, I read an article about getting ideas from reddit for blog posts. Just go there and find a thread about the genre/books you are interested in. I came up with a list that I can refer back to!

  6. Most of my blog posts are about books :) Your research paper sounds fascinating, but I don't read Portuguese. Fingers crossed for publication!

  7. It's good to hear from you again. Good luck with getting your paper published. How neat.

  8. Nice to see you linking at MM. Best wishes on getting the publication on your paper.
I wonder if listening to a book on audio (can be done on cell phone) would help get you out of the reading slump.
Your academic experience could make interesting blog posts. Maybe events of the day - historical and current. I'm surprised sometimes by quirky day events and historical events.
    Have a good week.

  9. Nice to see you coming back!

The abstract to your paper sounds awesome... Shame google won't/can't translate it all for me. :(
Good luck with the second essay up for publication!

  10. Wow.. that's so awesome. I'll definitely keep my fingerscrossed for you.

    Happy reading.

  11. I keep a running list of ideas for blog posts. When I am feeling uninspired, I take a look at the ideas I liked when I was feeling good. I add this and that to the unpublished posts as I run across them. Finally I hit publish.

Congrats on getting your paper published!
