Monthy Wrap-Up. August

As usual, it is time to say "goodbye August" and "hello September." 😊 There isn't much I can say about my August. It has been a slow month with lots of reading. However, regarding worldwide events, it has been a frightening month. In my country, we were faced with a Klu Klux Klan-like group of people "protesting" at the doors of an anti-racism association. Moreover, anti-racism politicians and leaders received death threats. Why so much hatred? 😞

This month in my life:

🌻 As expected, so much stress! Can the results of the fellowship just be released?
🌻 In other news, there is another fellowship I can apply to, but I feel my chances are slim to none.
🌻 I'm slowly getting used to Blogger's new interface. Is it me or does it keep changing?
🌻 LUCIFER! When will the second part of the new season be released?! Because I'm not sure of what to watch now. After binge-watching Umbrella Academy and Lucifer, my life is empty. What am I going to watch next?!
🌻 I read twelve books. Sadly, this past week I only finished one book due to being too stressed to pay attention to whatever I was reading. Hopefully, I will be able to read as many books in September.

  • Have you already read/ordered Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles? If not, WHY?! Where Dreams Descend is perfect for everyone who loves fearless female characters, dark mysteries and haunted forests, magic, and slow-burn romance. To learn all the reasons you should pick this book, here is my review.
  • Fable by Adrienne Young comes out tomorrow and last week I shared five reasons you should read it. If you haven't pre-ordered Fable yet, I vividly recommend you to do so because this seafaring tale is all kinds of epic-ness.
Say "Hi" to my August book haul. 😍 I'm proud to say I only spent money on Wicked as You Wish by Rin Chupeco. I received The Theft of Sunlight by Intisar Khanani to review due to being part of the early reviewers' list of the author. By the hundredth time, if you haven't Thorn yet, what are you waiting for?! As a Penguin Random House international partner, I got access to A Dance with Fate by Juliet Marillier (even if the book comes out tomorrow, my dream of receiving a Juliet Marillier e-ARC has come true!) and A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik.
How was your August? Any new favourite book?
Are you excited about September?

  1. I hope you apply for the new fellowship. You never know what could happen. I hope September is kinder to you

  2. I am really keen to read the new Naomi Novik book! Hope you apply for the fellowship. Got to be in it to win it!

  3. That just sounds so frightening, the world is so awful at the moment. If there is another fellowship, apply for it! I say that because I am job hunting at the moment after being made redundant and I am going for jobs that I worry I won’t get but if you don’t try you won’t know and you might be pleasantly surprised!

Have a lovely September and stay safe!

  4. Yes, blogger keeps changing! I get us to doing things one way, and the next time I go to post they've changed some other small little thing. I need to get caught up on Lucifer though. I'm two seasons behind, and I'm not sure how that happened exactly.

  5. It has definitely been depressing to watch the news lately. But I guess it has been depressing all year. Sigh..
I still have to watch Lucifer. I've heard so many great things about it. It's definitely on my list.
    Happy reading.

  6. Oh wow, that sounds scary. I do feel like a lot of hateful people have started raising their heads recently but sorry to hear about the KKK-esque who came out. I know we’re all allowed to have our own opinions, but there’s having your own opinion and spreading hate. And you got an ARC of A Deadly Education? I’m so excited for a new Naomi Novak release so I hope you enjoy it.

  7. It has been a bit of a learning curve with the new blogger but I have to say they have been super responsive to feedback. Whenever something hasn't worked for me or something I relied on didn't work like it use to and I sent feedback about it, they have updated the whatever and it works for me. That is probably why it feels like it keeps changing, people are sending feedback. I think I'm pretty satisfied with it now.

    Check out my monthly wrap-up

  8. Sounds like you got a lot of books read this month. I am glad to hear you're getting used to the new blogger interface, it's always a bit hard to get used to changes like that. Sorry to hear about the stress re your fellowship. I hope September is a good month for you.

  9. I'm seeing that Adienne Young book everywhere! Have a great week!

  10. Hi Tania! Just give the other Fellowship a go. Reach for the moon!

You had a good reading month in August and your new Book Haul is definitely something to look forward to.

Hope you will have a good month!

  11. The Theft of Sunlight is gorgeous! I do need to read Thorn and Where Dreams Descend--so many books, so little time. In August I read Rebel Spy, which surprised and delighted me. It's definitely a top 2020 book for me.
